09/05/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Rockies will try to sweep the San Francisco Giants for the second time this season when the clubs conclude a three-game series tonight at Coors Field.
Colorado has won 10 of its 17 meetings with San Francisco this year and swept a three-game road series versus the Giants in late May.
The Rockies had to rally from four runs down to claim victory on Tuesday, tying the game at five in the eighth on Kaz Matsui's run-scoring single. Brad Hawpe then made Colorado a winner when he scored Jamey Carroll with a base hit in the ninth. Hawpe drove in a pair of runs in the game, giving him 10 runs batted in over his last 10 games.
Troy Tulowitzki hit his 19th homer of the season and Todd Helton was a perfect 3-for-3 with two walks in the victory, Colorado's third straight that has them four games back for both the top spot in the National League West and wild card race.
Randy Winn had a three-run homer, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Giants from losing their fourth straight. Brad Hennessey (2-4) took the loss in relief.
Kevin Correia will try to win his third straight start for the Giants tonight. The right-hander has allowed two runs and five hits in each of his last two outings with victories over Milwaukee on August 25 and Washington on Friday. He lasted six innings against the Nationals en route to improving to 3-6 with a 3.77 earned run average in 54 games (three starts) this year.
Correia has made just four career starts against the Giants and 16 relief appearances. In that span, he is a combined 1-2 with a 2.95 ERA, allowing 14 runs in 42 2/3 frames.
Tonight's starter for Colorado, Ubaldo Jimenez, is 2-0 over his last four starts and is coming off a no-decision against Arizona on Friday that saw him allow just three runs on three hits over 6 2/3 innings of work. The right- hander also struck out six and is 3-2 with a 4.03 ERA on the season.
Jimenez will be making his first career appearance versus the Giants.
